Silence

“For everything there is an appointed time,
and an appropriate time for every activity on earth:” vs 7b“…a time to be silent and a time to speak.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1&7b

Our tongue is a powerful force.  Proverbs 18:21 tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue.  Your kind, encouraging (Spirit led) words can give someone renewed strength just when they were about to give up.  We see daily how harsh words or comments said without thought can cause great upheaval in people’s lives.

There are times when we are tired, stressed or hurt that those hurtful words form quickly in our minds… as believers we need to discipline ourselves to control our tongue and choosing whether to speak or stay silent at the moment.

Pray for Ecclesiastes 3:7b to be revealed to you “…a time to be silent and a time to speak.”  Sometimes not responding is more powerful than any word you might speak.  And if it is a time to speak – pray that Holy Spirit gives you the words to speak.
