Vital

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed–or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:41&42

Like so many of us Martha felt it necessary to busy her self with tasks to please God. Works are great and without them our faith would be dead (James 2:17) but works are not vital. There is only one thing that we absolutely can not live without and that is sitting at our savior’s feet while we listen to Him and praise Him just are Mary choose to do. Read this scripture again but this time read it as if you are part of the story. Instead of Martha, replace these words with your own name and see what God says to you. Take time today to be alone with your Lord.  You may answer that I can’t afford to spare even one second of your day and to that, I would answer you can afford not to.

Lay down your worries and worship.
